Texas Hold'Em -Sit & Go - Single Table
No Limit Tournaments
Goal: Apply these strategies for your first few tournaments and see how they work. Starting hands, patience for premium starting hands, proper pre-flop raise, proper bet determined by size of pot, stealing the blinds on the button, power of position, short-handed play, aggression "heads up".

  1. Play $5.00 Sit & Go, No Limit (NL) Single Table Tournaments. (Appx :30-:45 min)
  2. 10 players, ,9 opponents. Pays 1st, 2nd, 3rd place. All start with $800.00, at Level 1 blinds are $10/$15 and increase to next level every 10 hands.

Betting Internet Said 3. Do not play the first 20 hands (2 levels), except: AA KK QQ JJ 10/10 AK AQ, then make a STANDARD RAISE (3x or 4x Big Blind). By playing tight and with patience you should be at Level 3, and only have 6 opponents remaining, with enough money to play.
At least three players will have been eliminated, and you still have chips to compete.

Football Betting 4. NEVER use the "Raise Window". It is always double, which is the incorrect raise to make in No Limit poker. Type in your raise (3x or 4x big blind), then click the raise window.
(Note! "Raise" in this article = "Standard" raise of 3 or 4x big blind).

  1. Use "Steal-Blind" Bluff! When on the BUTTON and all players to your right have folded (leaving only you and the small & big blind), make a "standard" raise regardless of your hand. Goal is to "steal" the small and big blinds. Keep notes on how many times you made this play and how many times it worked.
  2. If you are in the hand after the flop and are LAST to act with 3 or less players to your right who have all check to you. Bluff the pot. Bet the size of the pot regardless of your hand. Keep notes on how many times you made this play and how many times your opponents folded, and how you won the hand by "playing your position". It does not work 100% of the time, but you will be surprised on how many pots you can win by using the aggression tactic.
  3. Do not use the "Check" Window before it is your turn to act....that is a "tell"! If you notice a player "Check" IMMEDIATELY once the "play arrow" has reached them, they have clicked the "check" window BEFORE the action got to them, indicating a very poor hand.. They are more likely to fold to a bet or a raise.
  4. Once the table only has 3 -4 players you must open up your game and raise with hands you would not normally even play. Note! You can't make the standard raise if your stack is less than 10x big blind, you must fold or go All-In. Any ACE becomes very strong. Raise with any Ace. Do not just call the big blind; fold your hand, raise or all-in with: Ace, any pair, two face cards, any face card with suited kicker.
  5. "Heads Up" (you and 1 opponent) and you are the small blind, do not just "call" the big blind! Fold, Raise, or go All In.
  6. Heads Up, and your opponent has button and makes mistake and does not raise. You raise or all-in, with: any Ace, any pair, any face card.
